Christ has His way in the storm. You can live a life of such peace in a world of turmoil. Christ, the Prince of Peace, will cause you to be still.
Nahum 1:3 (NKJV)
The Lord is slow to anger and great in power,
And will not at all acquit the wicked.
The Lord has His way
In the whirlwind and in the storm,
And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
… God is shaking everything that can be shaken. At the same time, as God is shaking all things around us, things will become better for the sons of God as we grow internally and become more mature in the things of God. God is beginning to not only shake the church, which is a good thing because a lot of things have come and attached itself to the way we did church. God is purifying His church, purifying His people in the church so that the church can come to its original intent. The Lord is shaking the earth like He has never shaken it before. There are so many negative things happening in the earth, violence, anger, agitation, upheaval and unrighteousness being exposed. All these things are being exposed for one purpose, so that we can deal with, and work through, it as a people of God to rule and reign in the earth like God intended right at the beginning. God is causing a shaking. Those things that are not supposed to be there will fall to the ground. Everything that will stand will get even stronger in your life. What God does in the world will cause an opposite reaction. When things get worse in the world, things should get better in the church.
While God is shaking everything, He is also adding. There is a lot of change that God wants to bring to us. He wants us to be still, to rest in Him, and then there will be a knowing. God wants us to be free, not free from a good life. He wants us to be free from the rat race, freedom from being driven by things. People’s lives are in turmoil when they are driven by things. This produces anxiety, pressure and stress.
God is in your boat. There is no other way to get to the other side, except the storm. While the storm is raging, He is saying take no thought of it. This is a position and posture. Become overcomers, and be what God has earmarked for your life even before the foundation of the earth.
In order for you to get to the other side, this journey will lead you through storms. As in Matthew 8:23-26, after God calmed the storms, He rebuked His disciples, His sons. After some of us get to the other side, we may receive a rebuke. He is going to say, “Didn’t I bring you through, haven’t I always been with you even in the storm”? You did not realize that God is in your boat. You only think about yourself. You are not nervous that He is going to drown, but you are nervous that you are going to drown. The One that can speak to the storm is in your boat. The One that can calm the storm is in your boat. We have experienced sunshine, the gathering of the clouds, rain and tears of sorrow. Somehow, we have come through the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter. You can always look up and say, “You always have us in Your hands”. All along we did not understand, we didn’t know which road to take. He wants us to become still.
